Teeth brushing is a task that I found hard to get my children to do and do correctly. So, I went in search of ways to get them to do it correctly and to spend enough time scrubbing away at their teeth. A trick that I discovered that worked quite well involved music. Well, humming at least, but hey that’s music too.
The trick is to have them think of their favorite song and then, they will hum the song as they brush their teeth. The idea being that the length of the song is normally long enough to ensure that they do a good job with their brushing.
Plus, most kids like music, therefore, it is truly a win-win and they come out with prettier, cleaner teeth in the end.

We all think of lullabies when we think of tiny babies freshly home from the hospital, but what about toddlers and preschoolers too. Wouldn’t they enjoy some bedtime lullabies. Sure they would! Actually, I’ve found this nighttime ritual to help my kids sleep so much better, and fall asleep faster. What could be better than that?
I know for us bedtime can often be a struggle, but with a set bedtime routine of baths, stories, a goodnight prayer and kiss, and lullabies they surely fall asleep alot faster than before. No more struggling to get them in their jammies and in their beds. What a relief!
Then, I can sing myself my own lullaby or grab some snuggle time on the couch with hubby. Whatever the case, at least I’m not singing the bedtime blues anymore.

Do you help your child to explore and use their imagination? Making up songs can be a great way to explore and use one’s imagination. This morning I was watching television with my almost two year old daughter. She loves the show, Jack’s Big Music Show. On it several of the characters were making up as song using one of the characters names. It was really fun for them to do and educational too.
That got me to thinking that it would be a fun activity to do with my children, who after all love music. Plus, what child doesn’t like to sing a song that includes their name. This is why personalized music is such a hit with kids. It is music, but more than that it is singing straight to them, and makes them feel special.
So, next time your kids are bored, or maybe you are, why not take some time to make up a song and sing, sing, sing.

Ask a child “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and you’re likely to get a variety of answers from a mommy to a doctor to an astronaut to a fireman or maybe even a professional baseball player or a teacher. Kids pick up things here and there and learn about the different careers that are possible for them to achieve by what they hear adults around them say.
Do you encourage your child to be anything that they want to be when they grow up. Do they understand that they can be whatever they set their mind to achieve. It is great for kids to dream about their futures and it’s importantt for them to understand that they have control over their future and can choose to become anything they want to be.
I know that my mom and dad always taught me to dream big and reach for the stars. I hope to do this for my children too, no matter what they ultimately choose to become.

My baby girl loves to dance. It can be to the catchy tune on a commercial or to the lullaby that is on her baby brother’s swing. She can just about dance to anything. But imagine how much more she’d love to dance if the song was being sung to her?
The thing is there are CD‘s available that are personalized just for your child. I know my baby girl would love this. These are a great gift for little girls and boys too for that matter and they are something that will make them feel extra special as they dance, dance, dance.
So, grab a CD for your little one and prepare to boogie down with them and sing along too.

My daughter loves music. Turn on some music and she’s going to smile, then dance around. It really is the cutest thing, but I’m glad she does and know that her love for music can last a long time and ultimately bring her a lot of joy. Who knows? She might even make music apart of her future career.
Exposing children to music from a young age can only have positive benefits for them. You may have heard the saying, “Music is good for the soul”. Actually, music is not only good for the soul, but for the brain as well. It helps children with learning and brain activity, ultimately giving the ability to be smarter individuals.
So, I’m glad my daughter taps her foot to the beat, and enjoys the music as it’s only doing positive things for her in return.

Having preschoolers and toddlers in the house can lead to having one big mess. They tend to just drag out toys and scatter them everywhere rather than really playing with any of them. Then you have a room full of toys scattered about and you wonder, “Will this ever be clean?” If you leave it up to the child the answer would be “no”. So you as a parent must take action, but how do you get them to clean it up.
One solution that works well and you may even found being used in schools is the clean up song. Basically, you choose a song that is upbeat and fun that you can label for your child, the “clean up song“. Whenever they hear the song being played it will be their cue to begin cleaning up their toys. Also, the fun upbeat tune can be fun to dance around too and ultimately get the job of cleaning up their toys accomplished faster.

“My God is so big, so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God cannot do, for you.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God cannot do.”
These are the lyrics of a fun kid’s song that I have sung many times at Vacation Bible School’s and backyard Bible clubs.
How many kids are out there who have never heard about this big God so many of us serve. It’s really sad to think about it but there are actually many, many kids who do not know our big God personally.
So if you know someone who doesn’t know about this big God or you just want to share how big God is with someone you know why not share this video with them. Here’s more about the video:
This video presentation shows just how big God really is! This is a fascinating video for both believers and non-believers as it takes a look at the universe from a scientific point of view. The video is also a great way for children to experience how big God is!

It’s hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner. It is definitely creeping up on us. So, how do you share at Christmas? Do you tend to spend a lot of money on a bunch of gifts or do you find ways to make simple yet meaningful gifts a part of your giving?
Kids love to receive gifts so I think it’s important to give and allow your children to give as well. It helps them to learn that Christmas is more than just getting it is about giving as well. My son is in preschool now and I plan to help him understand more about giving by allowing him to share some gifts with his friends. These don’t have to be anything major or expensive. A simple gift like a personalized Christmas ornament can still show him the power of giving and help him to understand the meaning of Christmas.
I know that he’ll not only learn from this experience but also love it too.

My youngest started preschool this past year and one of the things I was faced with was parties at school. There seemed to be a new holiday creep up every week, which caused us to have to purchase items for the party and sometimes even happies or gifts.
We often purchased happies for the kids but I often wondered should I be getting omething for the teacher as well? It would probably be nice to say, “thank you” to your child’s hard working teacher. Think about the things she does for your child. Wouldn’t it be nice to give back in some way, even if it’s not a special occasion.
I really liked the idea of these personalized mugs as a gift. Most teachers enjoy a good cup of coffee so I’m sure this is a gift that they would enjoy.
