Making Kids Dreams Come True

Published by admin under Personalized Music

At one time or another, every kid has dreamed of being an actor. They see all their favorite stars on the television and in the movies and they want to be them.  Many kids even want to be fun cartoon characters they see like the Disney Princesses.  They have loads of fun to playing dress up and pretend. It lets their  imagination soar to new heights. princesses

Letting your kids have the freedom to use their imagination and dress up like their favorite characters, then make up a skit or play for you and perform it is some of the best play your children can engage in.  It really is good for them and will stimulate their brain and help boost their creative skills.  Just think they might even end up as a filmmaker, screen play writer, or actor when they grow up.  There’s nothing like starting to practive for a career when they are young.

No matter what though the important thing is that the kids enjoy themselves and the wonderful magic we all know and love as the ability to make believe.  AHHH to be a kid again!

Movie Night

Published by admin under Personalized Music

There’s nothing like an evening at home with some good eats and a good string of movies. Establish a movie night in your family. Choose to watch wholesome movies that are appropriate for the entire family to enjoy. Here are ideas for Christian movie night themes.

If you like chick flicks, action, adventure, drama, horror, and comedy, you can host a movie night. Enjoy good movies with just the family or invite others over. Pick from a host of movies that all have a good story line and godly values.

Feature Films for Families offers the types of movies that everyone can be proud to show in their homes. They run across all genres. The one thing about these films is that they were developed to encourage discussions when the movie is over. Kids and adults can interact regarding their thoughts on the movie. These movies tackle such subjects as cultural diversity, racism, triumph over adversity, and friendships put to the test.

The theme for your movie night could be the genre of film or it could be a character or event from the Bible. If your subject is Jonah or stubbornness, find as many movies as you can that are either about Jonah or the trait of stubbornness. They can be from any genre. Each time you host a movie night let a different person choose the theme and the others each choose a movie. For the sake of curiosity, let everyone say why they chose their particular film.

The theme of the night can also come complete with games and costumes. Let the family dress up as a character that fits the theme. If it is the Old Testament, there will be no shortage of Biblical figures including Adam, Eve, David, Esther, Ruth, and Daniel.  For a vegetable theme, a night full of laughter with the Veggie Tales would be in order. Who would you be: Bob the Tomato or Larry the Cucumber?veggue takes

Theme movie nights can be fun for the entire family. The snacks can also have a theme. Come up with unusual names like the Bob the Tomato BLT or the Garden of Eden Salad. With the play on words, kids can come up with plenty of delicious food for the occasion.

Movie night can turn into movie afternoon if the weather is rainy and wet too. When you have to spend a day inside, you might as well make the most of it. Why not plan your next themed movie gathering today?

Music Makes Trips More Fun

Published by admin under Personalized Music

I love a good trip. With the price of gas, shorter jaunts are more the norm now or one long trip where we can see everything in one swoop. For kids, sitting in a car for hours can be boring. So, as a parent it is good to have some activities in mind that will keep the kids occupied and where you won’t constantly hear the phrase, “Are we there yet?” coming from their little mouths.

Have a plan and I don’t mean singing “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall,” choose more wholesome games and travel songs to sing. Many travel games start in our imagination. We make them up as we go along and begin a new family tradition. No one has any hard and fast rules about these games; that’s why they are so cool. The game maker calls the shots.

How about the alphabet game? For each letter, come up with the name of someone in the Bible whose name also begins with that letter. Try to get all the way to “Z.” You can also do the same with numbers. Think of a solitary person in the Bible. Next go to two who were always together and so on.

One of the most popular video series is Veggie Tales. Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber were my kid’s favorite friends when they were little. They still remember the songs even now. Who would have thought that singing vegetables would be such good role models? The stories are based in modern times and on characters that kids can relate to. veggie tales

Singing songs like these will not only be fun for the kids but will also help them to learn good positive Biblical morals and lessons.

Needing A Hobby?

Sometimes I think my husband needs a hobby. He tends to spend most of his free time in front of the TV. He’s talked about taking up golf, or weightlifting or even skiing, but nothing has panned out so far. I think any of the options would be a positive change from doing nothing.

golfI think it’s always good to get out of the house once in a while stretch your legs or maybe even your brain a little if the hobby you choose isn’t totally physical. Golfing for instance takes a little brain power too.

You can even get your kids in on the action and share the time you spend on it together. It will not only be good for your physical health, but your relationships too.

Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth

Teeth brushing is a task that I found hard to get my children to do and do correctly.  So, I went in search of ways to get them to do it correctly and to spend enough time scrubbing away at their teeth.  A trick that I discovered that worked quite well involved music.  Well, humming at least, but hey that’s music too.

brush your teethThe trick is to have them think of their favorite song and then, they will hum the song as they brush their teeth.  The idea being that the length of the song is normally long enough to ensure that they do a good job with their brushing.

Plus, most kids like music, therefore, it is truly a win-win and they come out with prettier, cleaner teeth in the end.

Bedtime Blues Begone

bedtimeWe all think of lullabies when we think of tiny babies freshly home from the hospital, but what about toddlers and preschoolers too.  Wouldn’t they enjoy some bedtime lullabies.  Sure they would!  Actually, I’ve found this nighttime ritual to help my kids sleep so much better, and fall asleep faster.  What could be better than that?

I know for us bedtime can often be a struggle, but with a set bedtime routine of baths, stories, a goodnight prayer and kiss, and lullabies they surely fall asleep alot faster than before.  No more struggling to get them in their jammies and in their beds.  What a relief!

Then, I can sing myself my own lullaby or grab some snuggle time on the couch with hubby.  Whatever the case, at least I’m not singing the bedtime blues anymore.

Make It Up

Do you help your child to explore and use their imagination?  Making up songs can be a great way to explore and use one’s imagination.  This morning I was watching television with my almost two year old daughter.  She loves the show, Jack’s Big Music Show.  On it several of the characters were making up as song using one of the characters names.  It was really fun for them to do and educational too.jacks big music show

That got me to thinking that it would be a fun activity to do with my children, who after all love music.  Plus, what child doesn’t like to sing a song that includes their name.  This is why personalized music is such a hit with kids. It is music, but more than that it is singing straight to them, and makes them feel special.

So, next time your kids are bored, or maybe you are, why not take some time to make up a song and sing, sing, sing.

When I Grow Up

Ask a child “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and you’re likely to get a variety of answers from a mommy to a doctor to an astronaut to a fireman or maybe even a professional baseball player or a teacher.  Kids pick up things here and there and learn about the different careers that are possible for them to achieve by what they hear adults around them say.grow up

Do you encourage your child to be anything that they want to be when they grow up.  Do they understand that they can be whatever they set their mind to achieve.  It is great for kids to dream about their futures and it’s importantt for them to understand that they have control over their future and can choose to become anything they want to be.

I know that my mom and dad always taught me to dream big and reach for the stars.  I hope to do this for my children too, no matter what they ultimately choose to become.

Dance, Dance, Dance

My baby girl loves to dance.  It can be to the catchy tune on a commercial or to the lullaby that is on her baby brother’s swing.  She can just about dance to anything.  But imagine how much more she’d love to dance if the song was being sung to her?  little girl

The thing is there are CD’s available that are personalized just for your child.  I know my baby girl would love this.  These are a great gift for little girls and boys too for that matter and they are something that will make them feel extra special as they dance, dance, dance.

So, grab a CD for your little one and prepare to boogie down with them and sing along too.

She’s Got the Beat

My daughter loves music. Turn on some music and she’s going to smile, then dance around.  It really is the cutest thing, but I’m glad she does and know that her love for music can last a long time and ultimately bring her a lot of joy.  Who knows? She might even make music apart of her future career.

musicExposing children to music from a young age can only have positive benefits for them.  You may have heard the saying, “Music is good for the soul”.  Actually, music is not only good for the soul, but for the brain as well.  It helps children with learning and brain activity, ultimately giving the ability to be smarter individuals.

So, I’m glad my daughter taps her foot to the beat, and enjoys the music as it’s only doing positive things for her in return.
