Bedtime Battles
When approaching a toddler about bedtime the usual response is “I don’t want to.” Many times this becomes one of the biggest battle of the day. One of the best ways to diffuse the bed time battle is with routine. Bedtime routines are important for toddlers and after some patience and perseverance the parents can overcome this challenge. Helping a toddler establish a routine helps them to learn boundaries and gives them a sense of security.
There are several things you can do while helping your little one get ready for bed. First a bath will help relax and calm them down from the day’s adventures. Then playing soothing music in their room helps them feel safe and calm. Even better a personalized lullaby CD that sings directly to them. Just watch your child light up as they go to sleep listening to music sung right to them. Bedtime won’t be a battle as they request to listen to “their” CD.
