My Song
When I was little I remember singing those old favorite Christian children’s songs, Jesus Loves Me, This Little Light of Mine, The Lord’s Army, The B-I-B-L-E, and others I’m sure. They were short, catchy, but impacted my life in a very real way. They were important to the foundations of my learning about the Bible and Jesus.
Now, I have a son of my own, and his favorite “song” is a Southern Gospel song sung by a local gospel quartet. In the car he always asks for “my song” and I turn it to the one he is referring to. It speaks of Christ’s death on the cross and his love for us.
Though, I’m glad he loves this song and I know that the words and message are teaching him much, I wonder if other children today or even hearing the basic tunes, such as Jesus Loves Me, or if their little ears never hear those words through song.
It is so important to teach our children such precious tunes. I love to sing them to my children and often replace the word “you” with their names. Jesus Loves “Lily” yes I know for the Bible tells me so. Won’t you share those words with your child today?
